Times Square Alliance, founded in 1992, works to improve and promote Times Square in a myriad of ways. In addition to providing safety and sanitation services, the Alliance advocates on behalf of its constituents with respect to a host of public policy, planning and quality-of-life issues. The Alliance also coordinates many major events in Times Square, including New Year’s Eve.

Arguably one of the largest public platforms for contemporary visual art and performance with 300,000 - 450,000 people typically passing through the district daily, the Alliance also celebrates Times Square’s long history as a center for arts and culture by hosting free outdoor performances and a curated public art program. 

We are seeking an energetic, detail-oriented Events & Programming Manager to help steer and oversee our free, outdoor programming on the Broadway Pedestrian Plazas in Times Square, TSQ LIVE (, as well as assist with the Alliance’s signature events (such as New Year’s Eve, Solstice, Taste of Times Square, and LOVE in Times Square). This role is best suited for someone with festival, events, production, and/or theater experience, and who is motivated by handling multiple events simultaneously. This is an opportunity to work on a range of  events and gain experience in and knowledge of creative producing and event production. In addition to liaising with talent and partners, the person in this position will work across several departments of the Alliance, including Operations, Communications, and Stakeholder Services, to execute high-quality plaza programming in the world’s most iconic and highly-trafficked public platforms.  Responsibilities will include set-up and breakdowns on a day-to-day basis, managing budgets, as well as long-term planning, such as forging new partnerships, and supporting the development of new ideas. The Programming Manager will be exposed to working outdoors for prolonged periods of time, including in inclement weather conditions. 

The Events & Programming Manager will have the following responsibilities:

  • Oversee Times Square Alliance TSQ LIVE initiatives to ensure consistent and high-quality presentation and execution
  • Serve as the day-to-day point person on TSQ LIVE events, performances, and new initiatives, acting as liaison to performers and partners
  • Support the Events & Programming Director in the planning and execution of all signature events including New Year’s Eve; this includes the ordering of materials, inventory and organization of supplies, and day-of-event execution
  • Set up, transport, break down equipment on a daily basis
  • Interact and engage in a Front-of-House capacity with audiences and the general public, as the face and representative of the Alliance
  • Coordinate with the Communications team and Partnerships team on content across event pages on the website, social media platforms, and outdoor signage 
  • Coordinate with the Operations team to ensure safe, clean, and well-managed events
  • Edit and distribute schedules for internal and external distribution; contribute to the compilation of pre- and post-event surveys and compile daily and/or weekly debrief reports
  • Participate in brainstorming and research for stages, signage and event presentation, best practices for public engagement, and public space design
  • General administrative work including mailings, data entry, invoice & payroll processing, and archiving

  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Flexible schedule with ability to work nights and weekends to accommodate an active event schedule
  • Event, theater, or production-related experience is a must
  • Videography, photography, sound engineering skills, and stage management and/or digital/virtual programming experience is a PLUS
  • Interest in and knowledge of the arts, culture, and music is a PLUS

Salary range: $57,000 - $60,000 annually
